Have Claude Max? It includes API credits. Claude Max 5x and Max 20x include $100 or $200 of Claude API credits every month. AskWatch runs on the Claude API, so with your own Anthropic key you use Claude on your Apple Watch without paying for the API separately: claim the credits on claude.ai, create an API key in the linked Claude Console organization and paste it into AskWatch.

How to claim the credits (Anthropic)

Short answer: Anthropic does not publish an Apple Watch app. Claude runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and the web. To reach Claude from a wrist you need a third-party app talking to Anthropic’s API — and it is worth knowing that most watch apps with “Claude” in the name are not chat apps at all.

First, the confusion worth clearing up

Search the App Store for Claude and Apple Watch and you will mostly find Claude Code companions — apps that show how much of your usage limit is left, ring a complication when a coding session needs input, or let you approve a prompt from your wrist. They are useful and they are a completely different product.

AskWatch is not one of them. It does not connect to your Mac, it does not watch a terminal, and it has nothing to do with Claude Code. It asks Claude a question out loud and reads the answer back. If you came here for usage rings, one of those other apps is the right download.

What AskWatch gives you

Raise your wrist, speak, hear the answer. The Apple Watch keeps working when your iPhone is out of range once settings have been cached, and the same conversation is there on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and CarPlay when you want a bigger screen.

Why Claude, specifically

Anthropic keeps a small line-up and every model in it is fully equipped: extended thinking, web search, reading images and documents, and tool use are available across the range rather than reserved for the flagship. Nothing here is a cut-down tier that quietly cannot do what the one above it does.

In practice that shows up as answer style. Claude writes in prose and gives you reasoning rather than bullet points, which is worth more when the answer is read aloud than when it is skimmed on a screen — and reading aloud is what a watch does.

The honest limitation: no Live Conversation

AskWatch has a Live mode where speech runs both ways at once and you can interrupt mid-answer. Claude does not do it, and cannot yet. Anthropic publishes no realtime voice API, so there is no engine to connect to — this is a gap at the provider, not something an app can work around.

With Claude you get dictation in and a spoken answer back, which covers most of what a wrist is for. If a live back-and-forth is the feature you actually want, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok are the three providers that support it, and you can switch on the watch itself without losing the Claude setup.

Two ways to pay

Your own Anthropic key

Paste an API key from the Anthropic Console once on iPhone and the whole list above is open, on every device you own. You pay Anthropic for what you use; AskWatch takes nothing on top. Keys live in iCloud Keychain, which is how they reach your other devices without being typed again.

Or subscribe and skip the key

AskWatch+ and AskWatch Ultra include managed Claude models, so there is no API account to open. AskWatch+ covers Claude Haiku 5.5, Claude Haiku 4.5. Ultra adds Claude Sonnet 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Sonnet 4.6.

A Claude.ai subscription cannot sign you in here — no third-party app can use one. Claude Max 5x and Max 20x, however, include $100 or $200 of API credits every month, and those pay for your own Anthropic key in AskWatch. Claude Pro and the free plan include no API credits; with those, the choice is a key you pay for or an AskWatch subscription.

Setting it up

  1. Install on iPhone. One App Store listing covers iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Apple TV, Mac and CarPlay.
  2. Choose Anthropic and either paste a key from console.anthropic.com or start a subscription.
  3. Install on Apple Watch from the Watch app on your iPhone and pick the model the watch should start on — set per device, because a wrist and a Mac rarely want the same one.

What it will not do

  • No Live Conversation, for the provider reason above.
  • No images or documents from the wrist. Claude reads both, but only where you can hand it a file — iPhone, iPad or Mac.
  • Long answers meet a small screen. Claude’s habit of explaining itself is a virtue in a browser and a scroll on a watch. The answer is read aloud, which is usually the better way to take it.
  • It needs a connection. Settings are cached; answers are not.
  • It is not Siri and does not try to be — no raised-wrist activation, no taking over timers or messages.

Questions people actually ask

Is there an official Claude app for Apple Watch?

No. Anthropic ships iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and web, and has not announced a watchOS app.

Can Claude read my Apple Watch health data?

No. AskWatch does not request access to Apple Health, and holds no HealthKit entitlement — heart rate, sleep, workouts and rings are not read, and nothing of the kind is sent to a model. If health analysis is what you are after, this is the wrong tool.

Can I control Claude Code from my watch with this?

No — different product, see the top of this page. AskWatch talks to Anthropic’s API, not to a session on your Mac.

Does my Claude Pro or Max subscription work?

Max does, through API credits; Pro does not. AskWatch cannot sign in with a Claude subscription, but Max 5x and Max 20x include $100 or $200 of Claude API credits every month: claim them on claude.ai, create an API key in the linked Console organization and paste it into AskWatch. Claude Pro includes no API credits — use a paid API key, or an AskWatch subscription that includes managed Claude models.

Does it work without my iPhone nearby?

Yes, once settings have been cached, on a cellular Apple Watch or over Wi-Fi. The phone is needed to set up, not to ask.
