Short answer: yes, with your own OpenRouter API key. OpenRouter is one of the built-in providers in AskWatch. Create a key at openrouter.ai, paste it once on iPhone and the models you reach through OpenRouter answer on Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and in CarPlay. On the watch the request goes from the watch straight to OpenRouter, and for a key with a spending limit the app shows how much of it is left.

The app’s curated list, read from its live model catalog. You can also pick further models from the full OpenRouter list in the app.
Web search on any model
Switch on web search and OpenRouter adds web results to the question before the model answers — on the curated models and on others you pick from the full list. You set how many results it fetches, from 1 to 10. Each result costs extra on your OpenRouter bill: the app shows OpenRouter’s price of about $0.004 per result, and that applies to free models too.
Your notes, your location, your home
The OpenRouter models that can use tools — all in the list except the three Perplexity models — can search, save and edit notes in your private AskWatch notebook, use where you are and open a route in Apple Maps, and control Home Assistant, each when you have switched it on.
Paying for it
OpenRouter runs on your own OpenRouter API key: you buy credits at OpenRouter and pay its price per model, and AskWatch takes nothing on top. There is no managed route for this provider — an API key is the only way in. You enter the key once on iPhone; iCloud Keychain carries it to your other devices.
What it will not do
- No Live Conversation. Live voice in AskWatch runs on ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok directly; OpenRouter does not carry realtime voice. Dictate AI, Speak AI and Voice Chat work with OpenRouter on the watch.
- New answers need a connection. Recent answers stay in the watch history.
Questions people ask
Is there an OpenRouter app for Apple Watch?
OpenRouter publishes no watchOS app. AskWatch is a client for OpenRouter’s API: one OpenRouter key gives you its models on Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and CarPlay.
Can I use a model that is not in the list?
Yes. Pick it from the full OpenRouter model list in the app; web search works with it too when you switch it on.
Does web search cost extra on OpenRouter?
Yes. OpenRouter charges about $0.004 per search result, also on free models; you choose how many results, from 1 to 10.
